1. Introduction

Welcome to Bartik ("we," "our," or "us"). By accessing or using our PDF to EPUB conversion service (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

We collect and process personal information as described in our Privacy Policy. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data.

2. Service Description

• 2.1. Our Service converts PDF files to EPUB format.
• 2.2. The Service is available in two tiers:
  • Free demo version: Limited to 5 pages per PDF file on the main page
  • Registered users: 40 free pages upon registration
  • Paid conversion: Pay-per-use system after free credits are exhausted

3. User Accounts

• 3.1. To access full features, users must register for an account.
• 3.2. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
• 3.3. You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account.

4. Credits and Payments

• 4.1. One credit equals one page conversion.
• 4.2. Credits expire 6 months after purchase if unused.
• 4.3. Credit packages are available for purchase at various price points.
• 4.4. All payments are processed securely by Stripe, a third-party provider. By making a payment, you agree to Stripe's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. We do not store your payment card details on our servers.
• 4.5. All payment information is handled in accordance with PCI DSS standards via Stripe.
• 4.6. Pricing is approximately $0.012 / €0.012 per page.
• 4.7. We reserve the right to change pricing for credits or services at any time. Changes will not affect credits already purchased.
• 4.8. If you initiate a chargeback or payment dispute, your account may be suspended pending resolution.

5. Refund Policy

• 5.1. We offer refunds for unused credits within one week (7 days) of purchase. To request a refund, please contact us with your order details.
• 5.2. Before using credits, you can always use the free demo version on our front page to test the conversion quality, which will convert 5 random pages of the PDF file.
• 5.3. Nevertheless, if you are unsatisfied with the result of a conversion (for example, if the EPUB file is significantly different from the original PDF), you may request a refund for the credits used for that conversion. Please provide details and, if possible, examples of the issue.
• 5.4. Refunds may also be granted on a case-by-case basis at our discretion.
• 5.5. Refunds will be processed to the original payment method within 5 to 10 business days after approval.
• 5.6. We reserve the right to refuse refunds in cases of abuse or suspected fraud.

6. Conversion Process

• 6.1. The Service supports conversion of:
  • Text content
  • Equations
  • Tables
  • Figures
  • Special characters
  • Footnotes
  • Multi-column layouts
  • Handwritten content
• 6.2. While we strive for accuracy, the quality of conversion may vary depending on the complexity and quality of the source PDF.

7. File Storage and Security

• 7.1. Converted files are temporarily stored for download purposes.
• 7.2. Files are automatically deleted after the download window expires.
• 7.3. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your files.

8. Usage Restrictions

• 8.1. You may only use the Service for lawful purposes.
• 8.2. You must have the right to convert the PDFs you upload.
• 8.3. You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights to the files you upload. You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims arising from your use of the Service in violation of copyright or other laws.
• 8.4. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason.
• 8.5. Automated or programmatic access to the Service is prohibited without our express written consent.

9. Intellectual Property

• 9.1. You retain all rights to your content.
• 9.2. Our Service's interface, code, and technology are protected by intellectual property laws.

10. Limitation of Liability

• 10.1. The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
• 10.2. We are not responsible for any loss or damage resulting from:
  • Service interruptions
  • File conversion errors
  • Loss of data
  • Unauthorized access to your account

11. Service Availability & Maintenance

• 11.1. We may temporarily suspend the Service for maintenance or upgrades. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users in advance.

12. Modifications to Service

• 12.1. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the Service at any time.
• 12.2. We may update these terms with reasonable notice.

13. Termination

• 13.1. We may terminate or suspend access to our Service immediately for:
  • Violations of these terms
  • Fraudulent or abusive behavior
  • Non-payment

14. Governing Law

• 14.1. These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

15. Severability

• 15.1. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full effect.
